Description
“An open-source firmware and development kit that helps you to prototype your IOT product within a few Lua script lines”
Based on ESP8266 (wi07-7) wifi board, on-board USB-TTL support directly flashing from USB port, also on-board power circuits and all IOs setup.
Features:
- Arduino-like hardware IO: Advanced API for hardware IO, which can dramatically reduce the redundant work for configuring and manipulating hardware. Code like arduino, but interactively in Lua script.
- Nodejs style network API: Event-driven API for network applications, which facilitates developers writing code running on a 5mm*5mm sized MCU in Nodejs style. Greatly speed up your IOT application developing process.
- Lowest cost WI-FI: Less than $4 WI-FI MCU ESP8266 integrated and easy to prototyping development kit. We provide the best platform for IOT application development at the lowest cost.
Note: MicroUSB need to be used gently, large force or negligent push may cause it broken.

Nice board. Works as expected except that I can not find drivers for the CH341 chip that don’t crash my development machine. I gave up on the on board USB/serial and I am using a FTDI chip based USB/serial connected to RX TX on the ESP8266 to talk to the board. I see ElectroDragon has a new offering with a different USB/serial chip. It is a bit more expensive, but worth it if there are working drivers. I have one on order.

This took me some digging but I found a driver for the ch341 usb/serial chip. Very nice board and a good alternative to the Adafruit Huzzah ESP board plus it’s in stock. I’d definitely go for the R2 version if for no other reason than this board is quite wide, the same width as a normal breadboard in fact, I had to put two side by side for it to fit.
http://www.wch.cn/download/CH341SER_ZIP.html has the windows driver and there’s links right beneath that to the mac and linux drivers. I’m using the windows driver on 8.1 and it’s working great but until I found this driver I wasn’t having any luck with the usb. The micro-usb port is very solid and not as weak as I’d been worried about.

One of the three received can’t be flashed, and looks a bit “worse” compared to the other two: Larger tantalum cap that looks dirty, the crystal looks worse too. Maybe a different batch, and some “recycled” components?
