Description

  • With a USB interface, you can directly use the phone data cable in the computer point of view positioning effect. USB direct connection to the computer, that is, with the host computer-owned serial port function, no external serial port module
  • With an on-board passive ceramic antenna and passive antenna amplifier circuit, alone with better results.
  • With IPX interface, you can directly access IPX active antenna optionally. Avaialble here.
  • Increase the MAX2659 signal amplification, search signal stronger
  • The module comes with rechargeable battery backup, you can power-down to maintain ephemeris data
  • EEPROM data save for GPS record

1 review for NEO-6M GPS Module R2

  1. 5 out of 5

This module works perfectly when hooked up to a Pl2303HX USB to COM/UART/TTL adaptor at 5 volts power and 3.3 volt transmit data to a Raspberry Pi.

Plug in the USB adaptor and use dmesg | grep tty to see which port is in use.

A satellite lock may require up to 5 to 10 minutes when the device is initially placed in a window and much less if it has a better view of the sky. Initial data should show valid time and date.

    dmesg will show:
    [11441.362375] usb 1-1.4: new full-speed USB device number 11 using dwc_otg
    [11441.464594] usb 1-1.4: New USB device found, idVendor=067b, idProduct=2303

as the module is on a desk in a room with no view of the satellites.

Valid data will appear faster with a better view of the sky.

Once the device has acquired a lock, further data will be available much faster as the internal lithium battery backup will store ephermeris data.
