Very good iron for the money. It seems to be fine on UK power (now officially 230V 50Hz, I think – used to be 240V).

The only thing I didn’t like is the cable, which is two wires plus a separate earth. I strapped the earth cable to the main one with short pieces of heat shrink, and connected it all to a standard UK 3 pin plug. It’s nice and flexible though, unlike on some cheap irons.

A choice of bits would be nice too, either included for a higher price, or sold separately. I guess you can do most things with the tapered pointy bit it comes with, but I like to use a small chisel tip bit. The bits fit over the element, like on Antex irons, so maybe some of those could be made to fit.

great product, especially for this price, it heats up very fast unlike cheap solderers(which is nice since you dont hesitate to turn it off knowing you would need it in say.. ten minuts)

It’s a double insulated device and should not be grounded per se. Be aware though that the ground connection isl only intended to work as ESD protection and will NOT trip the circuit breaker/mains fuse in any circumstances. An RCD should work perfectly fine though if you have one.

Personally, I wouldn’t attach it to the mains earth. Ideally it should be connected to the same earth as your other anti-static precautions (wrist strap etc).

Also be aware that it should not be connected at all if you’re working on equipment with a “hot” (live) earth!

Good iron for the price, it works as expected… but after two days always on (8hrs a day) it did not heat enough any more, and now its almost useless with Rohs soldering core. So don’t use too much.

Good soldering iron. I bought it trusting electrodragon’s description “…best tool maker in China….high quality and reliable” and that it has an adjustable temperature feature and can be earthed.

If your power system is 120v use a 120v to 220v Step-up transformer rated 100W or more. I found mine on ebay.com, Penteng brand, for about $10.00.

You can find soldering tips for this iron by searching the Internet for ‘Guangzhou yellow NO.907 MT-3927 solder iron tips’. You can also search tmall.com or taobao by entering the chinese text “广州黄花907电烙铁配套 烙铁头(马蹄型) 无铅长寿焊咀 907T”. I am thinking of buying a few a different types of tips on Tmall.com through electrodragon’s custom order.

Very good soldering iron. Now this my main iron, I use it a lot. Adjusting the temperature is very helpful when soldering different size elements.
