Cheap Dual-Band SIM900A GSM Module
As you may know, SIM900 is a quad band modem being able to operate in 850,900,1800,1900 MHz bands, while SIM900A is a dual band GSM modem being able to operate only in 900,1800 MHz bands. You can see the supported countries in the list below, however, the fastest way is to check the actual frequency band used in your system, by checking directly on your phone.
Furthermore note that, for some countries, like Bulgaria, although the 2G GSM network is set at 900 and 1800 band, but the 3G network works at 2100 band, so the module can make phone call but can not use the GPRS function. This is still a choice that you can use a part of the function of this IC. Happy trying, this IC is available on our store.
For another example, most cell phone now can switch between the frequency automatically and smoothly when any of the frequency is not available, in United States, the GSM band normally is 850 and 1900 mhz, so there is still one chance to try on 1900. (We are not yet try on this!)
