DHT22 (AM2302) Product Overview
AM2302 digital temperature and humidity sensor is a calibrated digital signal output temperature and humidity combined sensor. Application-specific digital acquisition module and the temperature and humidity sensor technology to ensure the products with high reliability and excellent long-term stability. The sensor includes a capacitive humidity sensing element and an NTC temperature measurement devices, and connected with a high-performance 8-bit microcontroller. The product has excellent quality, fast response, anti-interference ability, high cost, etc.. Each AM2302 sensors are extremely precise humidity calibration chamber for calibration. The calibration coefficients stored in the form of a program OTP memory, internal sensor, the detection signal process to call these calibration coefficients. Single wire serial interface, system integration becomes quick and easy. Ultra-small size, low power consumption, signal transmission distance up to 20 meters, making it is the best choice for all kinds of applications and even the most demanding applications. These sensors are great. I combine them with an Arduino and 16×2 LCD to make room temperature/humidity sensors. Fun little devices, and they have all worked very well for me.

Accurate readings like with sensors bought in Europe. Both values dont jump around and are stable.
Also, the DHT22 works like a charm with the stock Arduino DHT library.

Now that I have it working it seems to perform well, but… There’s a reason virtually every scrap of sample NodeMCU code to interface this with an ESP8266, uses GPIO15 to communicate with this: it’s the only pin that works! It would’ve been wonderful if something had mentioned that pesky little factoid! Just by sheer bad luck I made it initially inconvenient to use that pin. The fact that all of the samples made pin a parameter would seem to suggest that other pins might be used, when in reality passing in a pin parameter is disingenuous at best, it should be hard freaking coded! Also note that use of a pullup resistor is unimportant, 5.1K, 10K, no resistor — all the same… Apparently my time is valuable to me alone, go figure. Happy trails. 🙂

Correction, it only works on GPIO02, not GPIO15.

These work great with the arduino (adafruit) DHT libraries. More stable and larger range than the less expensive DHT11.
